Cuppa is made by Gravity Boulevard, LLC. This page covers the website (cuppa.markets) and the app (app.cuppa.markets): what we collect, why, and who helps us run things. The short version: we collect as little as we can, we never sell it, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.

What we collect

  • Your account: your email address, and your first name if you add one. To log in, we email you a one-time code; we keep a record of each code, when it was used, and the IP address it was requested from, to stop abuse.
  • Your sessions: when you log in, we keep a record of the session, with its IP address and the kind of device and browser, so you stay logged in and we can spot misuse.
  • What you save in the app: your journal entries, your lesson progress and answers, your email settings, and whether you’ve seen the tours and tips. Nobody else sees your journal in the app.
  • Email history: which days we sent you the morning digest, so nobody gets it twice, and any change to your email address.
  • Anything you send us, like replies to an email or messages in our community.
  • Usage data: pages viewed, clicks, and device type on the site and in the app. In the app it’s linked to your account number, never your email address. Our analytics don’t use cookies.
  • The waitlist: if you joined it before the open beta, we still have the email address you gave, which form you used, and how you found us, like the site that linked you or a campaign tag in the link.

How we use it

  • To log you in and keep your account secure.
  • To send you the emails you get from us: login codes, a welcome note, the morning digest, and news about Cuppa.
  • To run Cuppa, fix what breaks, and make it better.
  • To answer you when you write to us.

We don’t sell your data, and we don’t use it for advertising.

Who helps us

We use a few services to run Cuppa. Each one only gets what it needs to do its job.

  • Cloudflare hosts the website, sits in front of the app, checks sign-ups for bots, and stores the waitlist.
  • Linode (Akamai) runs the servers the app and its database live on.
  • SMTP2GO delivers the app’s emails: login codes, the welcome note, and the morning digest.
  • Kit manages our email list for news about Cuppa. New accounts are added to it.
  • PostHog gives us cookieless analytics.
  • Gravatar shows your profile picture in the app, if you have one there. The app asks for it with a scrambled (hashed) form of your email address, never the address itself.

Market data and headlines come from third parties too, but we don’t send them anything about you.

Cookies and local storage

The app uses one cookie, to keep you logged in. It isn’t used for tracking or advertising, and the website doesn’t set any of its own.

Your browser’s local storage also remembers a few things on your device: in the app, whether the scanner is on and reading aloud, the symbols you follow, your Levels view, and which headlines you’ve seen; on the website, your arcade sound setting and best scores. None of that leaves your device.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while you have an account or are on the waitlist. If you ask us to delete it, we remove it, except for records the law requires us to keep, like billing history once there is any.

Your choices

  • Turn the morning digest off in the app’s Settings, or with the unsubscribe link in any digest. News about Cuppa has its own unsubscribe link.
  • Change your name or email address in Settings.
  • Email privacy@cuppa.markets to see, correct, or delete what we have about you, including your whole account. We’ll reply within 30 days.

Kids

Cuppa is for adults 18 and over. We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone younger.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we’ll email account holders before it takes effect.
